Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC)

Joint design of communication and sensing systems — sharing waveforms, hardware, and spectrum to deliver data and to perceive the environment. The CommIT chair contributes across the full stack: information-theoretic limits, multi-static and array-fed architectures, learned reconstruction. RF imaging (the chair's textbook on wave physics → neural reconstruction) is one application area within ISAC; the topic also covers vehicular sensing, indoor localization, through-wall imaging, and ISAC for cell-free / RIS-aided networks.
